By: Janet West-Sellars |
Quiet As Kept is about a family torn apart by lies
and deceit. The death of a mother/wife is how the story line unfolds.
The circumstances of her supposed death has been a secret that
involves the good doctor who is a friend of both the wife and husband
and the kids look at the doctor as their uncle. The father has
made the youngest child feel that she is responsible for her mother’s death but is actually feeling guilty of a crime he thinks he has committed. The good doctor is the center of this huge plot. Mean while the oldest two children, who always feel the need to protect the youngest from the cruel and spiteful ways of their evil father. They are trying to keep the family together but the task becomes harder once the baby girl becomes sick and everyone is tested to see if they can be donors, except their father. The father actually does go get tested but doesn’t let the family know, but the good doctor makes yet another favor for his friend and lets the family know that there is an anonymous donor. Yet the good doctor, who is married, secretly loved his friends wife. The good doctor allows the daughter of the friends to work for him who may have been one of the biggest mistakes he ever made because that allowed access to files and records that no one ever knew about. The daughter who works for the good doctor is also his secret lover and they have been having an affair for years. To compare this story line to real life scenarios brings more focus to the book.
The way the plot unfolded really kept your curiosity peeked because
you never knew what was going to happen next. The more the plot
unfolded the more you learned about another character. It was a
really good book that kept you in suspense. I would say it was
a mysterious, suspenseful drama. Reviewed by: Hess G.
